This is a third edition, both amended and extensively expanded, of the Dictionary of Mexican Legal Terminology (Spanish-English), whose first edition on paper was published in 1999. It is a compilation of legal terms and phrases used in the Mexican legal system with English equivalents in the legal language used in the United States. It should be noted that the concepts of both systems are not necessarily the same; some are similar, and others are totally different. Therefore, it is comparative-law investigation aimed not only to translate words, but also to provide a brief explanation of the concepts involved in the particular area(s) where they appear, so that the reader may understand their true meaning. The search may be made either directly by writing the term or phrase on the box designed for such purpose or by consulting the index, and once the selected term or phrase is entered the appropriate entry will appear, indicating also other entries where the relevant term or phrase is mentioned.
